On Sunday 24th of December 2017, Mr. Ahmed Fattah Abdulrahman, a lecturer and Ph.D. student at the Department of Physics represented the University of Zakho in a one-day workshop under the title of “First Nanotechnology Workshop NW-1 2017” that was hosted by the Physics Education Department at Ishik University, Erbil, Kurdistan Region-Iraq.The Workshop, fully sponsored by Ishik University, was organized in collaboration with the Physics Departments in the College of Education and the College of Science at Salahaddin University. Its organizing committee had selected speakers from eight local universities, namely: Ishik, Salahaddin, Sulaimani, Duhok, Charmo, Koya, Soran and Zakho.

It is worth noting that the goals for the Workshop was to provide an opportunity for experts in the field of Nanotechnology to present their research finding to their peers and to provide a forum to learn about exciting, ground-breaking research occurring in Nanotechnology. Accordingly, Mr. Ahmed was invited as a speaker in the workshop and gave a 30 minute oral presentation on his scientific research topic and participated in the discussion sessions. At the end of the workshop, he was awarded the certificate of participation.
